A tribute to Kim Lemmon
It is with deep regret that we announce that Kim Lemmon passed away on 26 May 2015. Kim worked with us at Fairey Associates from 2013 to 2014 and unfortunately had to leave her role with us due to ill heath.
Kim was a wonderful person to work with and we are all saddened by the news. Our sympathies are now with her partner and her son. She will be remembered fondly by all who knew her and Fairey Associates will be making a donation to her chosen Charities, Addenbrooke's Kidney Patients Association and Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Fit for FAD
So a month in to the brave new world of flexible pensions many are beginning to see the wood for the trees but there are still some commonly held misconceptions:
· At present not all pensions will allow the new 'freedom & choice' potentially leading to disappointment in terms of access
· There's no obligation, on pension providers to offer the new freedoms at all. Many won't support the full flexibility the new law allows
· This means if they want to access the new freedoms many savers will have no option but to transfer to a modern pension capable of providing the full flexibility
· The full flexibility and inheritability of pensions is only available to savers’ families where the inherited pension is Flexi Access Drawdown (FAD) enabled
· Annuities remain the only way to guarantee income for life and remain a bedrock of financial planning
Many people have been saving towards retirement for years across a variety of pension contracts. These will have been designed with a very different retirement journey in mind compared to the new flexible world, largely based around buying an annuity to provide a predictable lifetime income.
The default annuity purchase option is now a thing of the past and savers can now demand greater choice and freedom over how they use their pension fund to provide for them in retirement – and create a legacy for their loved ones when they're gone.

Budget 2015 - what it means to you
The Chancellor's final Budget before the election didn't contain anything which will have an immediate impact, however pension freedom and choice will go ahead as expected, turning conventional wisdom on how to take retirement income on its head and placing advice firmly at the heart of successful use of the new flexibility.
Further changes in the pipeline will be of interest from autumn 2015 onwards:
