National Garden Scheme 2020
We hope you are safe and well.
Normally at this time of year I would be opening my gardens to you all on behalf of the National Garden Scheme, and in the past we have managed to raise in excess of £3,000 per year. Unfortunately due to the COVID19 pandemic we will not be able to open to the public this year.
The National Garden Scheme is a self-funding charity and raises money for nursing and health charities via admissions to its gardens, tea and cake sales and plant sales. In the current climate this is not possible. Their main beneficiaries are Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, Hospice UK and the Queens Nursing Institute and at this time these charities continue to work so hard to continue to support all of those around us. Mary Berry has been the president of the NGS since 2016 and you may have seen the ‘Support our Gardens’ appeal! Here is her recent message:

Sadly due to COVID19 it looks like the National Garden Scheme donations will be down by 80% this year and this will be a huge blow to the charities that rely on these donations at the time they maybe need it the most.
‘Support Our Gardens’ forms part of a bigger appeal to enable the National Garden Scheme to continue the great work they do, as they have done since the 1900s, by supporting the charities we may all receive support from at some point in our lives. Their just giving page is below:

We would be grateful if you could consider making a donation in their time of need and we look forward to welcoming you in 2021.
